Role: Non-Executive Director
Sector: Materials technology (circular economy)
Location: UK (remote/flexible)
Commitment: 2-3 days per month
Our client is a groundbreaking, award-winning materials technology company that has developed a range of high-performance bioplastics, embodying the principles of the circular economy.
With globally patented technology, the company has secured a strong competitive position for its innovations, which include flame-retardant, high-durability, and compostable products that have applications across automotive, construction, agriculture, packaging, and electronics / electrical appliances.
The business has been growing steadily and is now at an exciting stage in its trajectory. Having recently secured Series A funding, it is now ready to accelerate its commercialisation plans and is strengthening its board ahead of this next phase of growth.
As such, our client is now looking to engage a Non-Executive Director with the experience, knowledge and network to help drive the business forward, providing valuable input into its strategic and commercial direction.
This appointment will require a highly credible and proven board director, with a strong track record of leading businesses through the early-stage lifecycle, fundraising, and taking novel technologies to market.
Ideally, they will have a track record and network in the plastics industry, but a background in the broader materials technology sector will also be beneficial. Importantly, they will have a genuine interest in creating a sustainable future.
The successful candidate will be based in the UK / Europe, with the ability to commit 2-3 days a month to this business. There is the flexibility for the NED to operate remotely, although some in-person board meeting attendance will be preferable.
In return, this individual will be joining the board of an ambitious and pioneering business on its journey to revolutionise bioplastics and help contribute to a circular economy. With a significant market opportunity and robust competitive advantage, the company is well-placed to pursue its growth and exit objectives. The incoming NED will get to play a key role in helping the business achieve those ambitions, as well as sharing in its success via share options.
